Suzanne Cross, LCSW

I’m a licensed psychotherapist and trauma specialist based in Fair Oaks, California.
I work with adults who are often thoughtful, self-aware, and motivated, many of whom have already been in therapy but still feel emotionally reactive, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that haven’t fully shifted.
My work is grounded in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and focused on helping people move beyond insight alone, toward change that feels lived and embodied.
A different phase of therapy
Many of the people who come to see me aren’t new to therapy.
They’ve reflected, processed, and made sense of their stories. And yet, something still isn’t settling.
They may understand why they feel the way they do, but their bodies continue to react as if the past is still present. Anxiety flares unexpectedly. Old relational patterns repeat. There’s a sense of bracing, shutting down, or holding it all together without much relief.
My work is designed for this phase of therapy.
How I work
I'm a relational therapist with advanced trainings in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and intentionally paced. I additionally offer psychedelic integrated therapy when clinically appropriate.
Rather than focusing only on insight or symptom management, I work in ways that support the nervous system in processing unresolved experiences, so change can be felt, not just understood.
That means paying close attention to pacing, safety, and what your system is actually ready for. We move carefully, we reassess as we go, and we stay responsive to what’s happening in the room.
This work is structured, but not rigid. Deep, but not overwhelming.
What you can expect
In our work together, you can expect:
A clear therapeutic framework rather than open-ended exploration
Attention to safety, pacing, and regulation
Space for protective parts that have helped you survive
Transparency about fit, scope, and next steps
I don’t believe therapy should feel endless - or rushed. My role is to guide the process with care and integrity, not to promise outcomes or push progress faster than your system is ready for.
