Have you tried different types of therapy and find yourself unable to realize significant changes in your mental health?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) can create powerful and lasting transformation.

Being the sole legal psychedelic medicine accessible to mental health practitioners for addressing emotional distress (MDMA-assisted therapy and psilocybin-assisted therapy may follow soon), ketamine has demonstrated efficacy in aiding individuals with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Its adoption as a treatment modality is expanding in the United States, with such approaches recently highlighted in a new Netflix documentary titled "How to Change Your Mind."

What are the different ways I can access KAP?

Individuals seeking ketamine and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy have several accessible options. You can connect with professionals who provide ketamine infusion therapy in clinical settings or therapists such as myself who integrate ketamine-assisted psychotherapy into their practice, combining medication with supportive therapy sessions. Additionally, individuals with treatment-resistant depression may opt for ketamine nasal spray treatment, which is available through licensed medical providers. Some startup companies also offer ketamine-assisted therapy in a virtual environment only.

Why choose Within Therapy Solutions for KAP?

My approach to KAP combines rich psychotherapy methods in a safe, nurturing environment with medically prescribed ketamine to maximize the benefit of the medication's neurobiological processes.

As a specialist in EMDR and IFS therapies, my everyday approach to healing complements KAP's capacity to facilitate profound introspection and emotional processing. Through these approaches, individuals undergoing KAP can navigate their inner landscapes, exploring the intricate connections between their various "parts" and uncovering deeper layers of consciousness. This synergy allows for a more comprehensive exploration of one's psyche during the ketamine experience, fostering integration and resolution of underlying emotional conflicts. Together, IFS, EMDR, and KAP offer a powerful avenue for individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a therapeutic approach that combines the administration of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with psychotherapy sessions. It is used to treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction.

How does Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy work?

Ketamine works by modulating glutamate, a neurotransmitter associated with learning and memory. It can rapidly alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma by facilitating neuroplasticity and promoting the formation of new neural connections. During KAP sessions with me, patients self-administer ketamine prescribed by partnered medical professionals, while engaging in therapy to explore and process emotions and experiences.

What conditions can Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy treat?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy has shown efficacy in treating a range of conditions, including treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders (such as generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and substance use disorders.

Is self-administered ketamine with the support of a therapist safe?

When conducted under the guidance and supervision of a qualified therapist, self-administered ketamine can be safe for certain individuals. However, it is crucial that patients undergo thorough screening and receive proper education and medical support to minimize risks and ensure the effectiveness of treatment. My therapy practice partners with Journey Clinical to ensure that you are an appropriate candidate and receive proper guidance, support, and follow-up care.

How long do the effects of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy last?

The duration of effects can vary depending on individual factors and the specific condition being treated. Some patients experience immediate relief following a single session, while others may require multiple sessions to achieve sustained improvement. Maintenance sessions may also be recommended to prolong the benefits of treatment. The length of each, guided psychotherapy session typically ranges from 1 to 3 hours.

How much does Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy cost?

The cost for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy varies greatly across different settings. In my practice, you will have two costs associated with KAP, which tend to be a bit lower than in clinical settings. One cost is with Journey Clinical for their medical providers who prescribe your medication (ketamine and other psychiatric medication if needed) and are responsible for your psychiatric medical care. The second cost is for the psychotherapy sessions with me at my regular fee of $160 per hour. Sliding scale rates are sometimes available, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you are in need of financial assistance. The costs with Journey Clinical are currently the following: "First-time patients ‍Initial medical consultation with Journey Clinical: $250 ‍Cost of medication: $88 (enough for 2 sessions) ‍ Ongoing treatment ‍Follow-up medical consultation with Journey Clinical $150 (at least 1X per quarter) ‍Cost of medication: $148 (enough for up to 6 sessions)"

How do I know if Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is right for me?

If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other mental health issues and have not found relief with traditional treatments, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy may be worth considering. In addition to offering you my training and knowledge of KAP, I partner with Journey Clinical's medical professionals who will also help you determine whether KAP is a suitable option for your specific needs and circumstances.
